Week's Meetings & Events Nov. 25 -27, 2013

Last Tuesday, Nov. 19th we recognized our SRPs at Herricks. Each building provided sweet treats for our school related professionals who work hard daily to help our students and district. I want to again extend my thanks for all your efforts, dedication and support throughout the year. "You do make a difference!"

As Thanksgiving approaches I also want to thank each and every member for all the time, effort and extra things you do outside of what is expected to help our students, schools and community.

My warmest wishes for a healthy and happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy the time with family and friends

*Discussion of Commissioner King's Forum in Mineola last week which was moderated by Senator Jack Martins. Attendees voiced concern over Commissioner's refusal to listen to what parents, teachers, students and administrators stated regarding C.C., APPR, Testing and Privacy of information (InBloom). Meetings & Events for Nov.18 -24, 2013 and Common Core Forum

Senator Martin sponsored Commissioner King's Forum last Wednesday, Nov. 13th at Mineola H.S.. This event was open to constituents in Senator Martin's district. HTA members from each school, as well as, administrators, board members, PTA members, parents and community members attended this event. The meeting lasted about three hours. The program was divided into four segments. The topics discussed were:

Common Core Rollout
APPR
Testing & Opting Out
Student Privacy - "In Bloom"
