Dear Colleagues,
Thanks for wearing your blue HTA t-shirts on Tues., Dec. 9th, The National Day of Action. It was a huge success at Herricks as many people proudly wore their t-shirts. In fact, Bill Youngfert, an HTA retiree even wore blue in support on a flight from Germany! As we continue to work together to change the tides and have our legislators listen to us we will now focus on postcard writing.
Three different Moratorium Postcards have been sent to each building that are addressed to Governor Cuomo, Regent Tilles and Senator Flanagan (the Chairman of the NYS Senate Committee on Education).
The building rep listed below will handle the distribution and collection of completed cards in your building.
Center Street - K Maiello
Denton Avenue - Lisa Parisi
Searingtown - Ginny Suckle
High School - John McManus
Middle School - Jenna Caggiano
Administration - Linda Sammarone
Each member can fill out all three cards or just one. The cards require a member to simply: sign, fill in home address and date. Please return your completed card to your building rep who will collect and return completed cards to the HTA office by the Friday, Dec. 13th, so we can stamp and mail them in bulk. This will enable us to keep track of how many cards our HTA members filled out.
It is vital that we continue to keep the pressure on as State officials will return to Albany in January when Education reform will undoubtedly be discussed. We can make a difference if we continue to make our voices heard.
Thanks again for getting involved and trying to make a difference.
In unity,
Nidya
