Thunderclap Power! Sending a Message to Cuomo

We have set up a Thunderclap for use across Long Island to send the following message to the Governor:
Gov. Cuomo - Listen to NYSUT, visit our public schools NOW & learn what #AllKidsNeed to attain a quality education!

To get to the Thunderclap, head to https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/23012-allkidsneed-long-island

For those of you unfamiliar with Thunderclap, here's their wording on its usage - "Social media is an easy way to say something, but it’s a difficult way to be heard. Thunderclap is the first-ever crowdspeaking platform that helps people be heard by saying something together. It allows a single message to be mass-shared, flash mob-style, so it rises above the noise of your social networks. By boosting the signal at the same time, Thunderclap helps a single person create action and change like never before."

The Thunderclap links to NYSUT's "Public Schools are not for sale" petition, and ties into the #AllKidsNeed Twitter postings and NYSUT's #AllKidsNeed Action page.  It lists the dates of our Suffolk and Nassau forums.  Finally, it also supplies the link to contact our State Senators.

Here's the text that is displayed:

The Governor has proposed a misguided, billionaire agenda for our public schools – focused on testing, privatization and unfair funding. It is becoming increasingly clear that he is intent on significantly diminishing the local, democratic control that has been the foundation of our public school system. Our focus must be on providing what students need and ensuring every child has a quality public school.

Let Governor Cuomo and our legislators know that  proposals under the Governor's “Lack of Opportunity Agenda” are flawed and counterproductive to our students’ success, that the goals established under his plan fail to reflect the promise of public education, that we are ready to stand up for our children, who are being victimized under the pressure of testing, loss of state aid, fewer program options and a naive, short-sighted educational roadmap.
