Advocacy Website & Rally Reminder

Dear Colleagues,

It is imperative that we keep up the pressure and continue to make our voices heard as we advocate for our public schools. Our colleagues in Garden City have created a new website to give the GCTA advocacy tool (similar to the NYSUT MAC) a more generic look. The new link www.thegcta.org is a one page site that is just on advocacy.  The campaign that is targeted at the senators is spotlighted on the page, allowing anyone to click on the banner and take action.  Anyone that uses the old link (previously sent out) will be automatically redirected to the new site.

PLEASE feel free to share this link with colleagues, PTA leadership, family, and friends and ask them to advocate. The template letter can be changed by each advocate, but the goal is to make this as easy as possible to FLOOD the offices of our senators with emails.  In addition, every time someone takes action using this tool, the target will receive a tweet on their official twitter account, so we are hitting them twice with every action.  If they enter their home address AND their school address, both senators will receive the email/tweet if the addresses are in different senatorial districts.
This tool will work with any region in the state getting the message to every senator - it doesn't have to be limited to Long Island.
When someone completes the action, they have the option to share it on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, get a link to post it on a personal blog or webpage, and the opportunity to email it to anyone - remind them to use at least one of these features to share the action!
Please remember to wear your HTA shirts tomorrow as a sign of support for public education. I look forward to seeing many of you at the rally. Look for our HTA banner at:

                         Senator's Jack Martin's office
                         151 Herricks Road
                         New Hyde Park

                         3:30 - 5pm

Thanks again for taking the time from your busy schedule to make a difference when our public schools and profession are under attack. Together we can accomplish great things!

In solidarity,
Nidya Degliomini
